Course Description
This class will be taught by Dr. Steve Dunn and various pastors and evangelism practioners around the Conference. Friday’s session begins at 8.30 am and concludes at 4.30 pm. Saturday’s session begins at 8.30 and concludes at 3.30 pm. We will explore the following topics:
Styles and Methods of Evangelism
The Evangelistic Chain
Six Biblical Styles of Evangelism
Examples and Understandings of the Six Styles
Story and Evangelism to Postmoderns
Telling God’s Story and Telling Your Story
Teaching People to Tell Their Faith Stories
Current Resources for Evangelism
Ten Commandments Evangelism (Sat)
Becoming a Contagious Christian
Just Walk Across the Room (Sat)
Bridgebuilders (Fri)
(Ministering to People With No Christian Roots)
Outflow and Servant Evangelism (Fri)
Video Tools for Evangelism
Using the Web For Evangelism
Evangelism and Student Ministries (Fri)
Worship Evangelism
Note: Each of these resources will be presented in introductory sessions highlighting the key skills involved and how to use the resource in your local church setting. In most cases students will be given an opportunity to practice this method at a basic level.
Optional Friday Night
An optional session is offered from 6.30-8.00 pm on Friday for any interested students. It is a round table discussion on "Raising the Evangelistic Temperature in a Local Church."
There is about 5-6 hours of preparation work for this class. That assignment will be sent immediately upon registration. Textbook for this class is Becky Pippert’s Out of the Salt Shaker and Into the World (20th Anniversary Edition) and can be ordered from the Church of God of Landisville coglandisville@coglandisville.org. Cost is $10 and includes shipping and handling.
