Asking Jesus into your heart?
I think I'll try to stir up some trouble with this posting. I came across this post from Klyne Snodgrass, a Bible professor at North Park University.

"How did language that is not biblical become the most important language for doing evangelism? Jesus never even comes close to saying, "Invite me into your heart so you can go to heaven." Nor does the rest of the New Testament. If people really knew what it meant for Christ to take over the controlling center of their being, that would be one thing, but they do not. Jesus does not seek people to make a decision, but people who become disciples, who follow him, and who are attached to him. "
If you disagree and like to use the language or 'asking Jesus into your heart,' please consider posting a comment.
Any other thoughts? I wonder where this phrase comes from now.

I absolutely agree with statement. I have also read where using the statement "asking Jesus into your heart" ,can be very confusing and unsettling to children and should not be used in sharing Christ with kids. Unfortunately all to often we use this language in ministering to children because it sounds simple and we think it should be easy to understand.
