You have got to see this!

Many of you have heard of the comedy duo Penn and Teller.  Penn Jillette is an outspoken atheist.  This video clip is 5 minutes long, but I suggest you spend the time (you may have to click through to the blog site if you're reading email).

In the clip, Penn talks about a man who gave him a Bible after a show.

I love the quote: "How much do you have to hate somebody not to Proselytize?

What an interesting video. Here is a guy who is an atheist but expects that people who truly believe something will tell others about it. Excellent point. And it is the way the guy approached him that got his attention.

That man, whoever he was that gave Penn that Bible, knew how to allow God to let the Lord speak through him instead of trying to speak for God. I think that is the problem with our evangelizing many times. We try to speak for God when He is prefectly able to speak for Himself through us.
I have always wondered why I mess witnessing opportunities up so bad at times and have come to the conclusion: when I allow God to give me the words to speak it goes much better then when I force myself to witness.
What Penn said really hit home with me as a pastor and as a Christian, "How much do you have to hate someone not to proselytize them?" I never really thought of witnessing in this way and it really made me think about all the opportunities that have passed me by because I thought I did not have the time or I selfishly did not want to take the time to say anything.
    Shame on me!

Penn has some interesting insight. I believe that he was genuinely touched by the man's sincerety. And eventually those kinds of meetings will start to generate questions and thoughts...

It's good to see the blog back up again. I missed it. Concerning the video, Penn may be an atheist and not believe in God, but it seems clear that the Holy Spirit is working on him.
He seemed genuinely moved that a believer cared enough about him to share the New Testament.
It goes to show us, how true Colossians 4:2-6 is.We need to be continually open to the Spirit's leadings and be gracious in our approach to sharing our faith.

Isn't it interesting how if people are around annoying believers, then faith seems silly but when around sincere believers, faith is more plausible.

Penn said several times, "He was a good man." If only people would say that about me! and all of us.
