Quote for Pastors
"If all your messages are simply 'how to have a better life' type of messages, don't expect people to be saved. Too many messages contain more self-help than gospel."

Counseling should be done from the office. Jesus and his Gospel from the pulpit. However that might be uncomfortable for some.

I agree whole heartedly. Having a better life can not begin until one finds salvation through the shed blood of Christ. It's like Jesus said, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:24-26, NIV).
A better life can only be had when Christ is at the center of life.

We are not trying to simply give people a better life--but introduce them to eternal life and the abundant life it produces. People don't need one more set of self-help ideas. They need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
